How to Care for an Original Acrylic Painting

Cleaning Your Painting

Dust gently. Use a clean, dry, soft-bristled brush (a wide watercolor brush or a clean makeup brush works well) to sweep dust from the surface in light strokes. Don't press — let the bristles do the work.

Never use water, cleaning sprays, or household cleaners on an unvarnished acrylic. If your painting has been professionally varnished, a very lightly damp lint-free cloth can be used with extreme care — but when in doubt, consult the artist.

Storing a Painting

If you ever need to store a painting, wrap it in acid-free glassine paper (not plastic — plastic traps moisture). Store it upright, never flat under other objects. Keep it in a climate-controlled space.

About Metallic and Iridescent Paintings

If you own one of Tamara's metallic or iridescent acrylic works — like Jewel Reef in Metallics or Ocean's Lullaby — you'll notice the surface changes with the light. This is intentional and is part of what makes these pieces come alive in a room. No special care is required; the metallic pigments are suspended in acrylic medium and are just as durable as any other acrylic painting.

Framing

Tamara's paintings on stretched canvas arrive ready to hang without a frame. Many collectors display them frameless — the wrapped canvas edges are finished and painted to complement the front. If you prefer a frame, use a "floater frame" designed for stretched canvas rather than a mat-and-glass frame.
